MJ MEMORIAL: THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH - Will Massive Internet Traffic Shut Down the Internet on 7/7/09?

With an incredible amount of interest in the Michael Jackson Memorial tomorrow the internet may shut down all together for a period of time.

On June 25th the news of Michael Jackson's death turned the information highway into an information dirt road. Major news outlets, such as ABC, NBC and the L.A. Times were put out of commission. Internet service providers like AOL were forced to turn 90% of their customers due to system failure. Even twitter, with their 100 character limit was shut down for a period of time. Google, Wikipedia and TMZ were also hit hard with a breakdown in their systems.

The funny thing is that the amount of traffic was much higher with the announcement of Anna Nicole Smith's death and on Inauguration day, earlier this year. The difference may have been in the types of material being downloaded. I noticed this network really slowed down when I added a chat function. I finally had to remove it from the network, because it was causing too many problems.

It's very likely that tomorrow will see the same kinds of problems cropping up on the internet from people trying to console themselves by downloading Michael Jackson's songs and trying to access the memorial's streaming video. So, if you're wise you'll finish anything of import on the internet early in the day, long before the internet shuts down temporarily.

If you're interested in purchasing Michael Jackson's music we've provided access to some of his more popular pieces from Amazon in the carousel at the top of the main page. We have also compiled over 100 of his songs, with and without his brothers and lastly we have a great selection of videos which we'll be continuing to develop over the remainder of this year, for this site is a living international memorial to Michael Jackson. It's also a means of linking those he has influenced over the years together into a community, not of believers, but of doers. This network is for those who believe that his greatest deeds were his humanitarian efforts, which we can carry on in his absence.

Still more to come on "The Michael Jackson Lives!!!" network
